Plaza de ayudante de Investigación para proyecto REBECOM

El BC3 ofrece un contrato de Ayudante de Investigación a tiempo parcial (50%) para el proyecto “REBECOM – Estimating recovery time of temperate forests after historic antropogenic disturbances along a gradient of complexity” financiado por el programa de ayudas a proyectos I+D+i correspondientes al Programa Estatal de Investigación, Desarrollo e Innovación Orientada a los Retos de la Sociedad (convocatoria 2015).

La persona seleccionada colaborará en un proyecto que estudia la recuperación a largo plazo de ecosistemas afectados por perturbaciones antrópicas, como la agricultura y la minería.

Requisitos y méritos

  • Grado/Licenciatura en Biología, Ciencias Ambientales o similar.
  • Se valorará la experiencia en trabajo de campo en ecología.
  • Se valorará la experiencia en trabajo de laboratorio.
  • Se valorarán conocimientos básicos de estadística.
  • Flexibilidad horaria.
  • Carnet de conducir.

Tareas

  • Trabajo de campo
  • Procesado de muestras en laboratorio
  • Creación de bases de datos
  • Otras tareas relacionadas con la logística y el desarrollo de la investigación

Contrato

Ofrecemos un contrato a media jornada de seis meses de duración, con posibles renovaciones y con un sueldo acorde a las tareas a realizar.

Lan eskeintza: REBECOM proiekturako Ikerketa laguntzailea

BC3ak jardunaldi erdiko Ikerketa laguntzaile kontratua eskeintzen du “REBECOM - Estimating recovery time of temperate forests after historic antropogenic disturbances along a gradient of complexity” proiekturako. Proiektua Estatuko I+G+b proiektuen dirulaguntzen bitartez finantziatzen da, gizarte erronkak gainditzeko bideratuta dagoen Estatuko Ikerketa, Garapen eta Berrikuntza Programaren baitan (2015. urteko deialdia).

Hautatutako ikerlariak giza perturbazioengaitik, adibidez, nekazaritzak ala meatzaritzarengaitik, aldaketak jasan dituen ekosistemen epe luzeko berreskuratzea ikertzen duen proiektuan parte hartuko du.

Funded PhD student / Research Assistant for ENABLE.EU project

Understanding the drivers of individual and collective energy choices in Europe

Job description

The Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3) offers a position for a PhD student / Research Assistant in the context of a project financed by the European Commission H-2020 Program under Competitive Low-carbon Energy Call (H2020-LCE-2016-2017): ENABLE.EU: Enabling the Energy Union through understanding the drivers of individual and collective energy choices in Europe.
ENABLE aims to contribute to more enlightened, research-based policy decisions, to ease the finding of the right incentives for the reaching of the twin goals of successful implementation of the Energy Union and Europe’s transition towards a decarbonised energy system of the future. To reach this final aim, ENABLE.EU will seek to provide an excellent understanding of the social and economic drivers of individual and collective energy choices with a focus on understanding changes in energy choice patterns.

The researcher will mainly contribute to the project although collaborations in other related projects and tasks will also be required. Specifically the Research Assistant will:

  • Undertake in depth reviews of the literature, particularly regarding social, cultural and economic drivers of individual and collective energy choices
  • Assist in the design and analysis of household surveys
  • Write reports
  • Assist in the elaboration of a case study analysis on low carbon mobility, and heating & cooling habits in Spain
  • Any other task required in research projects in which s/he will be involved
  • Engage in the preparation of a PhD dissertation under the PhD program of the University of the Basque Country (Universidad del País Vasco / Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea, UPV-EHU)

Minimum qualifications

  • The applicant must hold a post-graduate in economics that would formally entitle him/her to embark on a doctorate for the academic course 2016-2017 (Master Degree or minimum 300 ECTS), and be willing to be enrolled in the PhD Program of the University of the Basque Country (Universidad del País Vasco / Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea, UPV-EHU).   • Strong background in quantitative economics
  • The applicant must know how to use an statistical-econometric software such as MATLAB, STATA, R,  Limdep (NLOGIT) or similar
  • The applicant must have excellent interpersonal as well communication skills (written and oral) in English

Preferred qualifications / skills

  • Knowledge on behavioural economics is very much appreciated
  • Expertise in designing and analysing households’ questionnaires will be a plus
  • Knowledge of Spanish and/or Basque will be desirable

Envisaged starting date of the contract: Starting date is negotiable, but ideally would be in March - April, 2017

Location: Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3), Bilbao, Spain

Tenure: The position will be for a period of 24 months (extensible to 12 more months), with a 6 month probation period

Postdoctoral Fellow for ENABLE.EU project

Job description

The Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3) opens a competitive call for applications for a Postdoctoral contract in the context of project financed by the European Commission H-2020 Program under the Competitive Low-carbon Energy Call (H2020-LCE-2016-2017): ENABLE.EU: Enabling the Energy Union through understanding the drivers of individual and collective energy choices in Europe.

The researcher will mainly contribute to the project although collaborations in other related projects and tasks will also be required. pecifically, the applicant would:  

  • Lead a case study analysis on low carbon mobility, and heating & cooling habits in Spain and contribute to other tasks of the project
  • In collaboration with other partners of the project, design household surveys and analyse (both qualitatively and quantitatively) the gathered data within an interdisciplinary framework, combining economic, sociological and socio-psychological approaches for the analysis of individual and collective energy choices
  • Write deliverables for the European Commission
  • Publish high-impact, peer-reviewed research in international scientific journals
  • Contribute to Climate Policy research line at BC3

Minimum qualifications

  • PhD in economics and/or demonstrate a track record of peer-reviewed publications as well as the ability to initiate and complete original research
  • Strong background in quantitative and behavioural economics
  • Coding skills and expertise in analysing empirical data with a statistical-econometric software such as STATA, R, Limdep (NLOGIT), MATLAB or similar
  • Good interpersonal as well communication skills (both written and oral) in English

Preferred qualifications / skills

  • Expertise in designing and analysing household surveys is also valued
  • Good knowledge of the energy-related behaviour literature under the context of low carbon energy transition will be a plus
  • Flexibility to collaborate with partners of other projects related with energy economics, and to travel to meetings and workshops/conferences is very much appreciated
  • Knowledge of Spanish and/or Basque will be desirable
