In warming Europe, we are witnessing a growth in urban population with an aging trend, which will make the society more vulnerable to extreme heat waves. Heat waves are considered by IPCC the most important and dangerous hazard related to climate change. Cities are not only major drivers of climate change, but also impact hot spots. My research will focus on the quantification of future risks by ensemble modelling and also attempt to help to embed such an information to adaptation and mitigation planning.
