Over the past years, many local governments around the world have declared a climate emergency. However, critical voices from scientific, political and social spheres have warned about climate action falling well remedial the seriousness of the situation. In short, there is an urgent need for action. The unquestionable role of local governments in this challenge calls for new theoretical and application approaches to boost local governance in their capacity to respond to climate emergencie.

Short CV

Postdoctoral researcher and advisor on local and regional climate emergency policies at Basque Centre for Climate Change. Graduated in Law and specialized in Urban Planning, she has more than 25 years of experience working in the public sector in this field, especially in advising on local climate change policies. She currently works supporting and coordinating different regional, national and European projects on urban strategies to address the climate emergency, integrating the health perspective.
