Short CV

Violeta Cabello is a multidisciplinar environmental scientist with a special focus on co-production of knowledge about social-ecological systems and environmental governance. She is particularly interested in the combination of quantitative, qualitative and participatory methods blending knowledge from different academic and non-academic disciplines. She obtained natural sciences training through her first MSc on Applied Ecology from the University of Halmstad (Sweden) and second MSc on Environmental Hydrology from the University of Granada (Spain), for which she obtained a postgraduate scholarship from La Caixa Foundation. She holds a PhD on Human Geography entitled “An integrated assessment of water governance in social-ecological systems” with high distinction and outstanding doctorate award (premio extraordinario) from the University of Seville, developed with a grant from the Spanish Ministry of Education. She was twice visiting researcher at the iGLOBES – Interdisciplinary and Global Environmental Studies Center (University of Arizona, USA) and once at IHE - Institute for Water Education of UNESCO (The Netherlands). After completing her PhD, she joined the Institute for Environmental Science and Technology at the University of Barcelona to work as post-doctoral researcher within the H2020 project MAGIC-Moving towards Adaptive Governance In Complexity: Informing nexus security (GA 689669). In 2020, she was awarded with the Juan de la Cierva-Inc Grant from the Spanish Ministry of Science and joined the Science-Collab Research Group at the Basque Center for Climate Change in January 2021.

She participates in the Wikitoki Lab for Collaborative Practices. She has three year training in facilitation and has designed and facilitated over 25 workshops and public engagement events.
