Short CV

Leticia Pérez-Izquierdo is a postdoc at BC3 currently working in the European H2020 project HoliSoil (Holistic management practices, modelling and monitoring for European forest soils). She holds a PhD in Microbiology from the Autonomous University of Madrid and a degree in Agronomy from University of Extremadura. She did her PhD at the Institute of Agricultural Sciences (ICA)-(CSIC) (Spain) in collaboration with the INRA-Nancy (France), where she performed several research stays. Her PhD focused in the study of fungal communities in Mediterranean forests and their response to fire. From May 2017 to April 2021, she was based at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU). Throughout her scientific career, she has been awarded with several pre and postdoctoral grants and fellowships, including Juan de la Cierva-Incorporación. Her work has been published in some of the most influential journals in the field. Her research line focuses on the study of the interplay between fungal communities and their environment, with especial interest on the ectomycorrhizal symbiosis; how fungal communities are shaped by biotic and abiotic environmental parameters and their responses to disturbances such as wildfires. She is broadening her research interest to soil fauna and bacterial communities and how the ecosystems respond to global change.
