Short CV

I am an Italian ontologist and philosopher working as semantic consultant at BC3 - Basque Centre for Climate Change in the research line 5. "Integrated Modelling of Coupled Human-Natural Systems" contributing to the ARIES (ARtificial Intelligence for Environment & Sustainability) platform and its k.LAB software.

I received my PhD in 2020 in Computer Science and Systems Engineering, from DIBRIS, University of Genoa (IT) and Fondazione Bruno Kessler (IT) working with the Process and Data Intelligence research unit. My PhD mainly focused on an ontological analysis of business process modelling. More information can be found in the PhD thesis named "Investigating business process elements: a journey from the field of Business Process Management to ontological analysis, and back".

Following the PhD I have specialised in sustainability research beginning with a postdoc at ITI/LARSyS in Madeira island (PT) with the project REDEMA, “Redesigning Madeira: Using Speculative Design to Re-Think Energy Policy and Consumer Behavior” where we explored the role of (low-cost) technology for marine environmental monitoring.

My current research interests focus mainly on ontological analysis, conceptual representation and integration of key concepts associated with social-environmental sustainability and climate change. However I engage with other research fields, such as Philosophy of Technology, design, and Human-Computer-Interaction.

I published in Artificial Intelligence, Information Systems and Business Process Management conferences, such as AI*IA, CAiSE, RCIS and BPM, and international journals in the computer science field, such as Information Systems and Software and Systems Modeling, and future-based/technological forecasting venues, i.e. journal of Technological Forecasting and Social Change and Journal of Futures Studies.
