
The Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3) is looking for a full-time Science Communication & Training Technical Assistant to support the development and dissemination of scientific knowledge and training within the ARIES (Artificial Intelligence for Environment & Sustainability) project. This position is funded under the Maria de Maeztu program, by the grant CEX2021-001201-M, financed by MICIU/ AEI/10.13039/501100011033 and will be based on-site at BC3 (Leioa, Spain).
The selected candidate will work in close collaboration with the BC3 Communication team to ensure alignment with institutional communication strategies. Their role will be key to enhancing the visibility, accessibility, and usability of scientific results produced within ARIES, contributing to the development of communication materials, user support resources, and training strategies targeted at diverse audiences—from scientists and decision-makers to the general public.

ARIES is a cutting-edge semantic web infrastructure combining artificial intelligence, machine reasoning, high-performance computing, and integrated system modelling to support environmental decision-making. ARIES facilitates knowledge integration across disciplines and sectors, serving a growing community of users in science, policy, and industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Scientific Communication:
- Translate technical outputs into clear and engaging communication products (e.g. factsheets, blog posts, explainer videos, impact stories).
- Develop and maintain communication materials tailored to different target audiences (e.g. scientific, policy, general public).
- Support the coordination of institutional communication activities aligned with ARIES strategic goals.
Marketing & User Engagement:
- Design and implement targeted outreach campaigns to increase user engagement, particularly among commercial users through tailored messaging and marketing communication.
- Plan and execute marketing initiatives by tracking engagement metrics and user insights to refine messaging, highlight impact, and strengthen ARIES’ visibility and reach.
Training and Capacity Building:
- Develop and update training materials and user guides for ARIES tools and methodologies.
- Organise and deliver workshops, webinars and online courses to train new users and partners.
- Support onboarding processes and technical documentation for external contributors.
Platform Support & Outreach:
- Respond to user queries and support the dissemination of platform updates.
- Liaise with researchers and developers to gather and communicate user feedback.
- Contribute to ARIES stakeholder engagement and community-building efforts.
- Manage ARIES’ social media presence, including content planning, posting, and interaction across key platforms (e.g. X/Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube), ensuring alignment with project communication goals.
Research and Content Development:
- Collaborate with scientific staff to co-develop dissemination strategies and training content.
- Assist in the preparation of project reports and deliverables related to communication, training, and stakeholder engagement.
Main requirements/skills:
- University degree in a relevant field (e.g. Science Communication, Environmental Sciences, Social Sciences, Education, Digital Media, or equivalent).
- Proven experience in scientific communication and/or educational content creation.
- Experience in organising training activities (online/in-person).
- Experience with graphic design tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe Suite), video editing or interactive content creation is a plus.
- Familiarity with topics such as climate change, sustainability, earth observation, AI, or system modelling is desirable.
- Strong writing and editorial skills with the ability to tailor messages to varied audiences.
- Team player with intercultural awareness, empathy, and strong organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently in a dynamic and interdisciplinary environment.
- Excellent written and spoken command of both English and Spanish is required. Basque (Euskera) is a plus, as well as other languages.

Term of contract
The position will begin in January 2026 and will last for one year, linked to the end of the project (estimated end date: December 31, 2026).
