Integrated assessment of complex socio-ecological systems
Eneko Garmendia Oleaga holds a PhD in in Ecological Economics and Natural Resource Management (Autonomous University of Barcelona) and is graduated in Economics (University of the Basque Country).
He has over ten years of research experience in developing and applying participatory and integrated assessment frameworks for natural resource management and the resolution of socio-ecological conflicts.
During this period he has work as a post-doc researcher at the University of Cambridge (UK) and the BC3, and as a pre-doc researcher at the Environmental Economics Unit of the University of the Basque Country. He has also visited other research centers in the University of Leeds (UK), Autonomous University of Barcelona, Sussex university (UK) and Basque Biodiversity Centre-Torre Madariaga.
He has participated in various European projects funded by the European Commission. ELME (European Life Styles and Marine Ecosystems), MCDA-RES (Development and Application of a Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis software Tool for Renewable Energy sources) and the Austrian Science Foundation: ARTEMIS “Assessment of Renewable Energy Technologies on Multiple Scales in Austria.
Other national projects include: EKO-Lurraldea (Sustainable Land Use and Planning) and BIORES, which aim is to assess the Impact of the Basque Economy on the Global Biodiversity.
His work has also succeeded in publications in international journals such as BioScience, Global Environmental Change, Ocean and Coastal Management, Fisheries Research or Ecological Economics.
