Guillermo Pardo is Chemical Engineer specialized on Environmental Engineering by UCLM and he has a MSc on Management, Treatment and Use of Organic Waste by UMH.
For the last years he has been working in the environmental field at different research organisations, focusing on the topics of organic waste management, bio-energy (biogas, composting), and life cycle assessment of food related aspects.
He has worked as a research assistant (2006-2007) at the IGER-North Wyke (currently Rothamsted Research), as a process engineer (2007-2009) at the R+D department of Ros Roca Envirotec and as a junior researcher (2009-2012) at the sustainability department of AZTI-Tecnalia, studying different aspects related to the environmental impact of food products (LCA, carbon and water footprint), and evaluating alternatives to improve the sustainability of the food chain (i.e. food waste valorisation through bioenergy production or conversion into animal feed).
Guillermo developed his PhD thesis at BC3 investigating the GHG emissions and other environmental impacts associated to agri-food systems through integrated approaches that combine modelling and LCA methodology. His main fields of interest are in relation to different strategies for mitigation of emissions derived from the food supply chain, among others, livestock production, food waste recycling, diet shifts or alternative land uses.
