Short CV

Antonio Ruano Sastre graduated as a Forestry Engineer at the Polytechnic University of Madrid (2010), he also obtained a Master’s degree in Forestry engineering from the University of Valladolid (2012), a Master’s degree in Geomatics, Remote Sensing and Spatial Models Applied to Forest Management from the University of Córdoba (2014), where he was a contributing student in the department of forestry Engineer in the European project "ThermoLiDAR", and a PhD in Biosciences and Agri-Food Sciences from the University of Córdoba (2019). He has participated in a research project, "EG17-042-C02-01: Scientific support for forest information generation" financed by the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA). His responsibilities and duties consisted of data analysis, writing scientific papers, redaction of final deliverables and a proposal for wood quality evaluation in the NFI. His Bachelor's Thesis was done at the University of Helsinki, under the Erasmus program. He has carried out during his PhD a secondment in the Chemistry (DCH) Division of Analytical Chemistry (DCH/ AC) and the Department of Material Sciences and process Engineering (MAP), Institute of wood Technology and Renewable Materials at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU) in Vienna (Austria) for three months under the supervision of Dr. Barbara Hinterstoisser financed by “RTA2014-00005-00-00: Characterization of juvenile wood Spanish coniferous forests and silvicultural factors influencing in its formation and in wood quality”. A second secondment was carried out in the Department of Statistics in the University of the study of Palermo (Italy) for three months under the supervision of Dr. Vito Michele Rosario Muggeo financed by the "RTA2014-00005-00-00". The last secondment was carried out in the Department of Forest and Wood Science of the university of Stellenbosch (South Africa) for two months under the supervision of Dr. Ben du Toit financed by a Short-Term Marie Sk?odowska Curie COST Actions “Carbon smart forestry under climate change CARE4C” (GA 778322). He also has teaching experience on a course of “Introduction to the use of LiDAR on forest systems” and has been selected to assist several international courses for specialization and attended international congress.
