Short CV

Celina graduate in 2019 from the Licentiate degree of Environmental Management from the University of the Republic (Uruguay). Between 2015 and 2018 she works on different problem-related projects, mainly on local territorial-productive conflicts in Uruguay ranging from water quality affection, participatory ecosystem services assessments, climate change in coastal areas, and tourist-driven gentrification. Also, between 2016 and 2018 she works as a teaching assistant and co-responsible for courses in the Licentiate degree of Environmental Management (Uruguay).

From 2017 to 2018, she conducts student research funded by the Scientific Research Sectorial Commission (CSIC) to analyse the distributional patterns of ecosystem services in the Maldonado River wetland (a key area for conservation in Uruguay) from an ecological-distributive perspective. In her degree thesis, she analyses the social distribution, and valuation of ES, by populations of different social-economic situations, in a changing coastal landscape. For this research, she obtains the first prize for the thesis category, in the National Urbanism Award 2019 by the Uruguayan Government (Uruguayan Ministry of Housing, Territorial Planning and Environment-MVOTMA).

Since mid-2018 she moves to Denmark and collaborates in research activities on the project “Climate change effects on phytoplankton and periphyton in streams and shallow lakes” (Aarhus University-Sino Danish Center). In this, she acquires experience in ecology experimental research, and laboratory activities complimenting her field background with basic science research.

In July 2020 she was awarded "La Caixa” foundation fellowship to develop her PhD project in "Urban Rewilding and Well-Being" at the Basque Center of Climate Change (BC3) together with the Barcelona Lab for Urban Environmental Justice and Sustainability (ICTA-UAB), to evaluate the effects of rewilding strategies on the well-being of local communities through the lens of ecosystem services research.
