Short CV

Julia is a postdoctoral researcher at the Basque Center for Climate Change (BC3) and affiliated researcher at the Barcelona Lab for Urban Environmental Justice and Sustainability (BCNUEJ). She obtained a PhD in Environmental Science and Technology from ICTA-UAB (2023), a M.Sc. Global Studies (Gothenburg University) and a B.A. Political Science and Economics (Münster University). Julia’s research focuses on the interplay of governance processes and civic contestations surrounding environmental policies and discourses. In her PhD dissertation, Julia investigated the challenges of the making of a green city ideal across multiple policy scales, with a focus on urban justice implications on the ground. Currently, Julia explores pathways for transformative change in the EU-funded BIOTraCes project, focusing on green(ing) schoolyards as a possible tool towards a nature-positive society and drawing on participatory action research methods.
