Short CV
María works on the field of urban planning and its link to climate adaptation, resilience and social equity. She is currently pursuing her PhD in collaboration with BC3 and the ICTA-UAB (Institut de Ciència i Tecnologia Ambientals, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona), exploring the link between urban planning, social justice and climate vulnerability.
With a background on Architecture with a specialization in Landscape and Environment (Bsc + Msc 2011, University of Navarra, Pamplona), and more than 5 years of experience as an urban and landscape designer in different offices in Spain, Portugal and Mexico, in 2018 she earned a MSc in Urban Management and Development from IHS, Erasmus University Rotterdam (Netherlands), choosing the Urban Environment, Sustainability and Climate Change specialization and acquiring knowledge about city management and the science-policy interrelation.
Since she joined BC3 she has collaborated on Marta Olazabal's project "CLIC: Can we measure the effectiveness of public investments in urban climate resilience?", analysing the progress of climate adaptation policies of global coastal cities (https://clic.bc3research.org/) and also on "URBAN KLIMA 2050", a LIFE project for the implementation of the Basque Climate Change Strategy in urban planning processes
