Organisation
The BC3 Basque Centre for Climate Change – Klima Aldaketa Ikergai was established as a non-profit association, on the 17th of April 2008. The associate members are:
Ihobe:
the public agency of environment, belonging to the Department of the
Environment, Territorial Planning and Housing of the Basque Government. Its
mission is to support the Basque Government in developing environmental policy
and spreading the culture of environmental sustainability in the Basque
Country. In addition, its activities are specifically designed in the fields of
air quality, soils, waste, the natural environment and public-private
partnerships.
The University of the Basque country (EHU/UPV): represents
the biggest public university in the Basque Country, offering 67 Bachelor´s
Degrees in all fields of knowledge, 103 official master’s programs, 44
professional & expert diplomas and 71 PhD programmes.
Ikerbasque: the Basque Foundation for Science was
created in 2007 by the Basque Government to strengthen the Basque Science
System through programmers to attract and consolidate researchers as well as
the dynamisation of research.
The Governance Model of BC3, that responds to the legal character of the entity
and its foundational rules consists of the following bodies
General Assembly: : composed of the BC3 associate members is the main government body.
Board of Directors: attended by BC3 partner’s, and invited people by the
Scientific Director and the Operations Manager, it is the legal representation
body which manages and represents BC3 interests.
International Scientific
Advisory Committee (ISAC): Apart from the
governance bodies described above, BC3 relies on another advisory committee
composed of Internationally recognized scientists called International
Scientific Advisory Committee (ISAC), created to give advice on the general
scientific strategy of the centre
