The Scientific Director of BC3, Professor Anil Markandya, has been appointed to the Scientific Council of the European Environment Agency for a period of four years.  The European Environment Agency (EEA) is an agency of the European Union. Our task is to provide sound, independent information on the environment. We are a major information source for those involved in developing, adopting, implementing and evaluating environmental policy, and also the general public. Currently, the EEA has 32 member countries, 219 staff and a budget of around 60 million euros.  The scientific council assiss the Management Board and the Executive Director by providing scientific advice and delivering professional opinion on any scientific matter relating to the work of the agency.
