Short CV

Pablo Manzano holds a PhD in Ecology and the Environment at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, specialized in Rangeland Ecology.
Beyond his research career, he has developed a professional career in the field of international development. Starting in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina with the Black Vulture Conservation Foundation (BVCF; 2007-2009), he later worked for the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in Nairobi, Kenya (2010-2014), and for the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome, Italy (2014-2015). He later also conducted consultancies for various international organizations and NGOs, including FAO, the World Bank, IUCN, GiZ, and the Land Portal, among others. In parallel, he developed research integrating the economic, social and environmental aspects of livestock keeping under a global scope.
Before joining BC3 he worked for two years at the Global Change and Conservation research group in the University of Helsinki, developing research approaches to integrate transdisciplinary work on pastoralist socio-ecosystems. During this time he has also collaborated with BC3 as an Associate Researcher, disentangling the effects of livestock-mediated emissions from those emitted by wildlife. He continues working on both research lines as BC3 staff.
